If you’re sick of all the wedding posts, you may as well skip this one too. Ok just kidding. I promise there are no photos of me in a white dress, but I do feel obligated to do a post featuring the delicious cuisine from our rehearsal dinner. This is a food blog after all.
Faz is a gem of a restaurant. It’s located in Danville – on the cutest street – and showcases classic Mediterranean food. As if I’d have a rehearsal dinner that didn’t feature hummus!?! Puh-leez.
So after practicing this…
…we all went to feast.
Faz has a normal dining area plus a separate room with a full bar and a back room for private events (like ours).
But what’s even cooler is the outside courtyard that the restaurant encircles, with a redwood grove and pond visible to everyone dining due to the floor to ceiling glass.
As everyone arrived from the church we made our way to the redwood grove for drinks.
Don’t mind if I do!
Everyone mingled and nibbled on the delicious appetizers.
Brace yourself for some delicious food photos.
Tomatoes & Feta
Olives & Pepperoncini
Roasted eggplant spread with shallots, garlic, mint & sour cream sauce
Crostini with eggplant spread & crispy shallots
Phyllo triangles with spinach & ricotta
Lemon garlic hummus (!!)
Wood burning oven flat bread
This hummus could have been my meal. It was SO good. Normally I’m not a fan of lemon-y hummus (I just think it’s too acidic for the delicate chickpea flavor), but this was perfection. Caked on top of Faz’ warm fresh-from-the-oven flat bread…no words. I almost want to install my own wood burning oven to have flatbread like that all the time. Once I win the lottery, that is.
As for the sit down portion of the evening…
Kyle and I tried several of the items on the menu back in January to decide on the rehearsal dinner courses.
First there was bread, served with balsamic, olive oil, and parmesan cheese.
Followed by the salad course.
Baby organic greens with marinated Roma tomatoes & citrus vinaigrette.
The entree choices included chicken, salmon, or pasta.
Free range pomegranate chicken with roasted garlic whipped potatoes & fresh seasonal vegetables.
Pan seared Atlantic salmon with basil pesto, roasted potatoes & garden vegetables.
As for my pasta dish…
I got the penne tossed with garlic, shallots, golden zucchini, red and yellow bell peppers, and peas in extra virgin olive oil.
It was actually supposed to come in a gorgonzola cream sauce, but they were able to easily make it without the sauce, using olive oil instead.
The meal was great, even if it was second fiddle to the pre-wedding excitement that was radiating from everyone all night long.
My fam!
There are now four Faz locations in the Bay Area, so if you live near one, go! (I’m not being compensated in any way for promoting them, I just really like their food)
After leaving the rehearsal dinner, my sisters and I went to check into the Lafayette Park Hotel for my last night as a single lady!
Dance party!!!! Hahaha.
There were so many ridiculous photos from this sleepover, I think my sisters may kill me if I post them though.
